Here we go

The Geert Wilders’ movie “Fitna” is now on general release.

Don’t bother with popcorn

It’s grizzly and disturbing but doesn’t really tell me anything new.

What do you think?

I’m guessing Geert is a big fan of the “War on Terror”, right?

  2. Wyrdtimes Says:

    Quite possibly.

Personally I think “western” tactics are making things worse not better.

What’s your view on Islam Charlie? I’m not a fan.

  3. Charlie Marks Says:

It’s hard to see Islam as unified - Shia, Sunni, Wahabi, Sufi, etc. It’s like having an opinion on Christianity… Are we talking Catholicism, Anglicanism, Pentecostalism, what?

I think the Wilders’ film is just a way of legitimising the wars in the middle east. Holland has troops in Afghanistan. (As does Denmark, hence the cartoons.)

So it goes. In the old days the excuse for colonialism was based on supposed racial inferiority. Now we have something harder to pin down.

Brown has already claimed there are no England-only solutions to terrorism. Perhaps in future calling for Scottish independence or parliament for England will be one of the many terrorism-related offenses…

This was a recent article in the Scotsman:

    Al-Qaeda’s white army of terror

HUNDREDS of British non-Muslims have been recruited by al-Qaeda to wage war against the West, senior security sources warned last night.
As many as 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam for the purpose of funding, planning and carrying out surprise terror attacks inside the UK, according to one MI5 source.

Lord Carlile, the Government’s independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, said many of the converts had been targeted by radical Muslims while serving prison terms.

Security experts say the growing secret army of white terrorists poses a particularly serious threat as they are far less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.

Good point about the various sects but aren’t misogyny, homophobia and intolerance common themes?

I’ve no time for the other monotheistic religions either.

  5. Charlie Marks Says:

I am an agnostic/atheist whatever you want to call it. It doesn’t figure in my life. But I don’t know if having a faith makes you bigotted. I’ve met many misogynistic and homophobic types who don’t use religion as an excuse - and plenty of people of faith who aren’t at all bigoted.
