Happy St George’s Day – England rising edition

Happy St George’s day & waes hael to my occasional reader

Power 2010 have released an ICM survey which shows that 68% agree with the statement: “England should have its own parliament with similar powers to those of the Scottish Parliament”.

They also briefly projected the Cross of St George onto Westminster with the words “HOME RULE” underneath. I say briefly because apparently the law popped up and threatened them with arrest, citing citing anti-terrorism law, section 44. I hope Gordon Brown got to see it before they were stopped.

Over at the Guardian, Dr Rupa Huq who describes herself as “a sociologist, Labourite and accidental blogger” has laid into calls for an English Parliament in her article “The chimera of an English parliament“.

Go and read it and have a laugh. She has managed to include virtually every establishment line on why we English don’t need an English Parliament. Including this gem:

There is no public appetite, clamour or need for an English parliament, however. If there was, it would have been addressed in this election campaign’s manifestos and the leaders’ debate. But no serious political party wants to touch this dud of an issue.

Nice timing for starters. The latest survey shows that 70% of English people want an English Parliament. But the bit about the establishments campaign manifesto’s is priceless. The Brishit establishment parties can’t even bring themselves to say England let alone to actually do something for England. Like Dr Huq their heads are firmly ensconced in the ground. Demand for an English Parliament is a grass roots demand – the kind that can be denied for so long, but one day it will sweep all before it.

I got a comment in as quick as I could – no time for nice writing but hopefully it did the trick.

The survey proves that we are getting somewhere. Every word and every conversation about the English cause counts. We will have our parliament back.

La la 68% of people want an english parliament. This is total BS. It’s like asking people do you want a moonbase of course people would say yes. But then you ask them where’s the £30bn to pay for it and suddenly they change their minds! Lol suprised? The only people who want an English parliament as at the top of their list of priorities are a bunch of nationalist freaks. Which ironically is very unEnglish i’m sure you would agree.

    Thanks for that Dave.

The trouble with that is that an English parliament would save money rather than costing more.

The re-establishment of the English parliament will render the current house of commons obsolete. With an English parliament in place the entirety of MPs would have as little to do as the current Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish MPs do (currently all they can do at Westminster is fuck up England)

Replace the commons with the re-established English parliament – replace the Lords with a small UK chamber. Problem solved.

No extra tier, no extra cost – in fact it would save a fortune.

If you are so confident in your assertion Dave would you be happy for it to be put to the test? Let England have a referendum? Scotland and Wales have both had them. Let’s ask the people of England what they think. Simples!

It isn’t rocket science to see where the money could be found, leaving the EU would solve that little problem. I would not trust anything that power 2010 say or do, just one look at who is running it and who supports it should give you an insight into what they are about. Billy Bragg for one has stated that he would not fly the English flag. power 2010 is just a leftist decoy designed to hoodwink the English into believing that they want change and if they join them they will get it. If power 2010 are so interested in electoral reform and England in particular why didn’t the bunch of leftwingers start power 1997 all those years ago, why didn’t they slate Jack Straw (whos son will is a member of power2010) for his derrogatory remarks about the English. Will they organise their friends in the UAF and SWP and demonstrate against councils and licensing authorities who are banning English flags and emblems in taxis? Will they comdemn their UAF pals who counter demonstrate English patriotic marches? Be wary of groups such as power 2010.
