I remember the first time I described myself as such to another person - it was at the Freedom of Speech rally in London a few years ago. The couple I was speaking to looked nervously at each other and from then on pretty much blanked me. I tried to explain it wasn’t like British [...]

In the name of art the Carlisle Art HUB has put a “Welcome to Scotland” sign outside the English city of Carlisle.
My initial response was the urge to unleash a string of highly coloured invective involving some very naughty words. But my higher self insists on an appraisal of the artistic merit of this installation.
A [...]

A rambling response to a very long winded post on OK.
It’s great to read something positive about Englishness coming from Mr Goodhart. Although I disagree with a lot that he’s saying.
“a minimum national sense of “being in this together” is still necessary to avoid long-term ethnic balkanisation and a small, low-tax state”.
Avoiding “ethnic balkanisation” would [...]

The big push begins.
Gordon Brown writes in the Telegraph “We must defend the Union” - make no mistake this is a Union of “nations and regions” and England isn’t one of the nations.
It’s depressing reading.
…when secessionist forces are loudly at work it is not the time for silence and passivity. We must be resolute in [...]

The BBC consider devolution from a Scottish perspective - again.
Wednesday’s episode of BBC radio4’s thinking allowed (Mp3)
On the subject of not many Scots listening to Radio4 Laurie Taylor says:
“Can they (the Scots) really be blamed when television and radio broadcast emanating from England frequently fail to mention the Scottish exceptions to their pronouncements on health, [...]

I found this article in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review via a google alert for “English Parliament”.
The author; John Browne is guilty of major confusion between England and Britain in this article although a lot of what he says strikes true if only he’d used UK Parliament instead of English Parliament. My comments in red.
It looks [...]

This Monday morning moan contains needless swearing.
It looks the Conservative and Unionist Party has decided the best answer to the West Lothian Question is to not ask it. Funnily enough that’s Labour’s answer too.
Labour’s contempt for the English has been apparent for years - but I thought there was a slim chance that the [...]

Former Attorney General and top Labour stooge Lord Goldsmith has produced a report recommending that school leavers swear an oath of allegiance to “Queen and Country”. Ostensibly this would be voluntary but the BBC report goes on to say that “council tax and student fee rebates” are being considered as potential bribes incentives.
Apparently the Scots [...]

Don’t know about you but I find the youtube clip below very inspiring. The Serious Organised Crime and Police Act is a disgrace and an insult to all free born English folk.
Simon, the bloke in the video acts in a proud English tradition of revolt - good on him.
Is this where the English cause needs [...]
